Week 5

Orla attended and took some lovely pictures of our musical sculptures as they were finished. We used highly reflective metallic acrylic paints and other reflective materials to decorate them and they are looking wonderful and sound great too. In PE the girls tried out some movements that looked great on video and we discussed some future moves and shapes we might do. In Music we recorded some keyboard work and discussed various ways we could record our new musical instruments.

5th week in the mercy

This week we continued working o the heads. We also started to enlarge details of their interiors, with the intention to create a space filled with images portraying the students interests.

In S.P.H.E. we looked at what the different groups had been doing. We also cut out some big footballs, basketballs,… to use in combination with the photos and video from P.E..

In the individual sessions some students worked on the ripples animation, others continued to create collages in photoshop.

I edited most of the animation and added some of the sound the music group had recorded. I also looked at some of the P.E. video, and edited parts of it. I am interested in isolating very small parts of movemenets and repeating them. A few more portraits are coming on as well and I am beginnng to get an idea what I want to combine them with.

our first week

We started working on the project last week. We learned about peace by dancing and working together. In art we drew portraits of each other, just focusing on the face and not looking at the drawing. We found it really hard not to peep at the drawing. In S. p. h. E. we had to organize ourselves in order of our birthdays. we had to communicate and listen to each other.
In art and music we listened to the song ‘ripples in the rockpool’, and did drawings from what we listened to.

Week 4

We decided to make drum sculptures to add to our collection of musical artworks and got the woodwork department to cut up some cardboard tubes into tabla sized drums. We stretched vinyl skins and stapled them on and then added limbs etc to make them into weird animal shapes. We made drum sticks and tried them out. They sounded great and we now want to decorate them with some irridescent and metallic acrylic paints. We discussed in the music class how we could experiment with rhythms and beats and look forward to trying that and bulding compositions with our instruments. In PE the boys practised Rugby and we videotaped passing the ball and a few offensive and defensive plays. We look forward to seeing these and playing with them on the computer.

4th week in the mercy

In art we created portraits with collages and drawings onto the cutout heads, filling them with images of things we are interested in.

In music we recorded sounds to the ripples animation, recreating the ripplesound with different instruments, voice, hands, paper and other materials.

In S.P.H.E. we had a review of all the things we have done so far and we started to discuss how we could move on.

The questions for Geography and history this week were:
‘What would You miss most if You were really poor?’

‘Do You think people should be punished if they dont agree with the church?’

In the individual sessions some students started to compose the music to a song one of them had written. Others continued working in photoshop, and some started to edit video from P.E.

I have done some more work on the ripples animation and started to edit the sound. I did some more portrait drawings and had a good think how to pull the different threads together.

I also had a meeting with Orla this week, she introduced me to audacity and we had a chat how things are going. That was extremely helpfull for me to get some feedback.
