Week 16

In music we recorded more keyboard performances and a violin piece. Orla dropped in and talked to the class about the project and the forthcoming exhibition. We planned a photoshoot for next week and in art tried to finish all our masks and accessories. We made good progress and are looking forward to trying everything on when the paint dries. In PE we photographed the remaining letters of the alphabet.

17th week in the mercy

this week we started to come up with stories in sphe relating to the eye game. some groups already animated parts of the story.

3 of the girls taught the whole group a dance routine in p.e., which was fantastic, very energetic. they did a great job teaching and the rest of the group participated really well.

some girls edited the video of the dance, all by themselves and we all watched it in music.

we recorded more songs and also went round the school in search of sounds. these sound journeys will be edited next week.

we also downloaded photos which were taken last week of the special places with the mask.

in geography everybody drew the kind of environment their houses are in, village, estate,… and added what they like or dislike about it.

16th week in the mercy

this week in art some students were exploring their favourite spaces in the school, doing drawings, photos and maps. they also took their masks into these spaces to strange mixtures of the usual reality and something unexpected.

in sphe we were working with plasticin still on the theme of the eye game, being treated unfairly. we are planning to develope short stories relating to the feelings the game brought up. everybody was really absorbed in the plasticin and their were really interesting conversations happeneing, about what it reminded them of, childhood, playschool,…what they used to do,…

we also recorded more songs and  in geography everybody was doing a drawing of the house they live in.

in p.e. some girls were teaching the others a dance routine, it looked great. maybe we can do a short performance on the next exchange day.

15th week in the mercy

most masks are still work in progress. some students who had finished theirs took them round the school finding interesting places for the masks and hands to appear and interfere.

in s.p.h.e. we went back to the eyes. soem students were writing poems about their experiences during the game, others were brainstorming ideas for stories about similar situations in real life.

we are also in the process of recording songs, mainly from now 65 and highschool musical.

bird.jpgalph1.jpggym1.jpgmusic1.jpgred-devil.jpggun.jpg

A very busy week. In art we looked at our website and saw the pics from last week and read the Mercy College developments. We then set about adding to our masks and accessories and took a lot of pictures to help keep everyone informed. Mathew finished of a red devil mask and a rocket launcher and even added an elastic band device to make it fire the rocket. In music we practiced some keyboard jazz and blues melodies and recorded them. In PE the boys did gymnastics and videotaped some jumps and rolls and then photographed themselves as letters of the alphabet.

14th week in the mercy

we continued with the masks and casts. the casts with different materials, paper, fabrics,… look really interesting. now everybody started devloping their masks into charackters.

we also sent a task to enniskillen, relating to the eye game. we are trying to come up with more ideas how to create more exchange between the two groups.

exchange day enniskillen

we went outside to learn peoples names. we built really big towers with  lots of  different materials. they grew up to the ceiling very quickly.  everybody seemed to enjoy  the building and it was hard to tell in the end which  one was the tallest. we were put into mixed groups north/ south to get to know each other. in the end we all came up with ideas of how we could continue with the exchange.
