About Kids’ Own Voices

A one year pilot programme working with young people. The central theme of the Kids’ Own Voices project is to allow young people from across two post primary schools, in Sligo and Enniskillen to develop relationships with one another, to understand and respect one another. Working together, to ‘imagine’ shared visions for a more healthy society.

Kids’ Own Voices is part of a long-term investigation by Kids’ Own Publishing Partnership into artists-in-schools in the border region in Ireland including Multimedia Maps project 1999-2003; and Trading Places/CR.E.A.T.E Project 2003-2006. Both programmes facilitated artists, teachers and children to work in partnership, utilising digital media, and the visual arts as a vehicle for exploring cultural diversity in their community, and cross-community. Both programmes were about exploring ICT as a tool for collaboration and exchange, with artists as catalysts in the classroom.
