Anna Reitberger

About Anna

Anna Reitberger is a visual artist who graduated with a Degree in Fine Art from the IT Sligo in 2003. Since then she has worked extensively in various educational and community contexts, including projects with kids’ own publishing company, the Model/ Niland Gallery and the artsoffice Sligo. Working with people is an essential part in Anna ’s practice as an artist and informs her work at every level. 

Recent exhibitions include ‘At the Edge’, Contemporary Textiles at the MCAC Portadown. Work in Context was shown in C.R.E.A.T.E. at the Dock, Carrick on Shannon, and the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoghaire.

In her work Anna explores what’s going on between people, the pleasures and failures of communication, the weird and wonderfull in everyday life, hopes, dreams and desires, love and loneliness and what, if or how art has something to do with all of that.

this week we started to come up with stories in sphe relating to the eye game. some groups already animated parts of the story.

this week in art some students were exploring their favourite spaces in the school, doing drawings, photos and maps. they also took their masks into these spaces to strange mixtures of the usual reality and something unexpected.

most masks are still work in progress. some students who had finished theirs took them round the school finding interesting places for the masks and hands to appear and interfere.
in s.p.h.e. we went back to the eyes. soem students were writing poems about their experiences during the game, others were brainstorming ideas for stories about [...]

14th week in the mercy

we continued with the masks and casts. the casts with different materials, paper, fabrics,… look really interesting. now everybody started devloping their masks into charackters.
we also sent a task to enniskillen, relating to the eye game. we are trying to come up with more ideas how to create more exchange between the two groups.

more face and hand casting, we are getting into that now.
In SPHE we wrote poems with the words from last week expressing the feelings from the eye game and incorporated them into drawings of eyes. Also took photos of everybodies eyes and worked on some of them in photoshop.

We discussed the theme of respect and started working on making plaster casts of the faces.
In SPHE we divided everybody into groups according to the color of their eyes and gave each group different tasks. the brown eyes got chocolate, the blue eyes had to clean up and the green eyes had to rearrange the [...]

We started back after christmas with a review of what we’ ve done so far. After watching the video from the open day we had a chat about identity  and stereotypes and how we addressed these issues. I also introduced the idea of group profiles and the girls did drawings of their pencilcases.
